As the title suggests, Xiomara recreates in a free way diverse sonorities of the old Hispanic- Arab culture, which enriched the heritage of artistic treasure of the Iberian Peninsula. Written in a single movement, this work presents a main theme, which represents in a very stylised way the song of a young Moorish girl (violin) accompanied by the chords and the counterpoint of a lute (piano). The theme of Xiomara, of deep and expressive character, alternates with other secondary themes that present diverse contrasting characters in a rondo structure, as if it were the narration of a story lived in the first person.

The composer have tried to maintain a balanced participation between both instruments. One of the most notable characteristics of Xiomara is the great variety of contrasting themes that alternate with the main theme and that are not developed.
